Country Education Foundation of Australia (CEF) is a national not-for-profit organisation helping rural and regional youth access education, training and jobs through grants, scholarships, support services and resources. 

The national office is a small passionate team based in Orange. This team supports over 430 volunteers, 46 local foundations, as well as our current and past grant recipients. 

We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Community Specialist to join our small and friendly team at our national office. This role is based in Orange, NSW.

Role overview

The Community Specialist role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with students, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of an annual calendar of activities, with a particular emphasis on managing grant and scholarship programs. Providing excellent customer service to our foundations and monitoring student progress and welfare. This a 12 month f/t parental leave contract - with some flexibility.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in grant management, community relations or office administration and hold the following skills:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in using a CRM system (Salesforce), Mailchimp and social media management tools.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with different teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously when required and collaboratively with the wider CEF team, including the CEO, leadership team and other staff members.
  • Passion for regional youth education outcomes and a commitment to advancing our cause.

The role will require travel for face-to-face meetings and community engagement activities. A current driver’s licence is essential.

Key Responsibilities

The position will have the following responsibilities but not be limited to:

  • As the primary contact you will develop and maintain strong relationships to support students and volunteers through the delivery of an annual calendar of activity (with a strong focus on the grant-making cycle and effective stakeholder engagement).
  • Provide timely customer service, including the provision of sound advice and accurate information to incoming queries including from volunteers, students and other stakeholders.
  • Manage and support the foundations through the annual grant and scholarship program.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of engagement strategies and support programs to benefit our community.
  • Liaise with the team to facilitate engagement opportunities to raise the profile of CEF’s work.
  • Take a proactive role in tracking student progress and welfare, raising any issues or concerns with the relevant parties.
  • Assist with the identification and research of potential foundations.
  • Assist with events, campaigns and projects as required.
